Use CACLS to deny access to Everyone (cacls c:\windows\system32\sbscrexe.exe /D Everyone). Use TASKKILL to stop the service (taskkill /F /T /IM sbscrexe.exe). Use REGEDIT to change the properties for the service; you can also add permissions to the registry key to allow Administrators (or anyone else) to manage the key in the future.Jim Millardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18351359075519822053noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2269031136052421915.post-48161425667951442082014-11-14T04:36:36.094-05:002014-11-14T04:36:36.094-05:00Domain server business is quite good. windows smal...Domain server business is quite good. windows small business server
Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10496516190784867861noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2269031136052421915.post-77560232061241690152012-04-23T04:13:54.207-05:002012-04-23T04:13:54.207-05:00WOW!

We have been deploying SBS for years and this is the first time during a mirgration to a full blown version of Windows and Exchange that we demoted the SBS server and left it on the network while were moving various services over to the new setup. Thanks for the post it worked great and we can now continue our migration without the server shutting down every hour !!
